CD ReviewsJOSE FELICIANO is pure Rock, Funk and Soul simply terrific Carlos Rodriguez | 09/28/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This time around the amazing Jose Feliciano reworks old Motown classics as well as some funky ballads and makes them his very own. This is one of the funkiest albums Jose ever recorded. Just listen to his amazing reworking of Smokey Robinson's "I Second That Emotion" in other words FANTASTIC. I love this album so much that I nearly wore it out when I had it on LP in the early 1980's. After years of searching for it on Compact Disc, I was very lucky to have found it on a little record store not far from where I live called Sounds Of Music which has long gone out of business. A great song on this album which I love is the soft and soulful ballad "Find Yourself" the song is very mellow and it touches the deepest corners of the human soul. Feliciano's crystal clear voice soars to great heights on this one a truly beautiful song. Perhaps my two favorites on the album are "I Wanna Be Where You Are" again Jose's voice is pure soul and his guitar is lay back and ever so great. I love how he switches to Spanish in the last few lines of the songs, it is something that for us Feliciano fans are used to since he likes to combine both Spanish and English in some songs. "The Drought Is Over" WOW!!! this song alone makes the CD worth buying. I have never tired of this song and I have played it atleast a thousand times and I'm not exaggerating. Jose co-wrote this amazing gem with his wife Susan who is also an accomplished songwriter and has written other songs with her legendary husband. This song has a lot of meaning for Jose since he wrote it at a time where his career was just getting over a four year drought of not recording any new material. This song marked the end of the drought not only for Feliciano but for the fans as well and the beginning of a great new era in Jose's career. With a new album and a world tour soon to follow to promote the new record Jose was full of hopes and dreams and with his career back on track and a new record contract there was no stopping him. It's important to say that Jose Feliciano was the first and only white artist to be signed to an exclusive contract with Motown Records. Motown founder and the executive producer of this album Berry Gordy even comes out at the very end of the song where Jose is saying "Thank God" and Mr.Gordy says "It's Over" meaning the drought that had plagued Jose's career for some time was indeed over. PLEASE, if you can find this album buy it immediately don't wait because as other fans have comment it is very rare and hard to find. If you can find it get it you will love it." Desperately Seeking this CD! Gary Van Dyk | 01/16/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "Like so many of you, i have been searching for THIS CD everywhere but can't find it. I wish I'd bought it when it was first released. And I still believe Jose's version of Light My Fire is the BEST!Thank you."
