IS THIS NEW OR REISSUED TRACKS FROM THE 90'S?
Rick Holly | Lafayette, NJ. USA | 08/20/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I am a die hard Brooklyn Bridge fan and have seen them live at least 15 times over the years starting back in the fall of 1969 right up to the summer of 2008. I don't own this CD but I suspect that this CD and the previous release ("Today" and "Today 2") are a complilations of tracks from two CD's they released in the mid 90's. One was a "Best of" two CD set with one disc of (superbly) re-recorded Crests songs and another of (equally superb) Brooklyn Bridge material. They also released a CD called "Accapella" that featured Johnny, Fred, Les and Jimmy covering some great 50s songs accapella style. Except for "Star Spangled Banner" I think that "Today" and "Today 2" are tracks from those CD's. The songs are the same titles anyway.

Since these earlier CD's may be hard to find I don't see anything wrong with repackaging them but as a fan I just wish I knew if these were new recordings of the same songs, remastered versions of those songs or just re-releases of those songs. Since I have those CD's I don't want to buy these two if it is the same material.

Speaking of the Brooklyn Bridge what I would like to see is a CD release of "The Isley Brothers at Yankee Stadium" on the Isleys T-Neck label distributed by Buddah. This is a rare (hard to find) 1969 vinyl release that included the Brooklyn Bridge doing a three song Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions medley. I heard this many years ago but never had my own copy.
