Of course, no amount of treachery or ineptitude has ever muffled Scott's long-lined, behind-the-beat ballad singing, which often sounds like a woman's. His is an absolutely original voice and one of the most ambrosial acquired tastes in all of jazz history. Recorded mostly in the 1950s and early '60s, this set showcases Scott in his prime, capable of blowing the roof off a ballad like "The Loneliest House on the Street" or whisperingly caressing a sad tune like "Please Forgive Me." For collectors, this 66-track, three-disc set includes nine unreleased tracks and 15 that were released only as singles. On the downside, there are more blurry photos here than in any other boxed set in recorded history, and the liner notes are breezy and incomplete. Still, if you've been bitten by the Scott bug--or are curious about his ongoing buzz--every single disc, this set included, is nothing short of essential. --Robert Baird« less

"I am completely addicted to Jimmy Scott, once you play him 3 times, you are completely lost , in the third cd,Can we begin again is to much ,You change ,Please forgive me,The way we were, oh my God ,Close your eyes,And what are you doing the rest of your life ,you can die and go to heaven, then because you heard the greatest you know why you are here, This is a costly package of 3 cd, But if you never buy another thing in your life, you need to treat your self to this, It also make you feel so sad that we wererobbed of this man voice, I pray he live a quite bit longer,I heard his doucenmentary on startz about 2 in the morning, I jumped straight up and started taping , the very next morning i started looking for anything by him, and I tell everyone how it relax you to hear him his voice is so sweet. it just bless you and make you feel so good,This was recorded in his young days,he do Memories better than barbara Striesland. and Gladys Knight if it possible and it is.When I fall in love ,Its like he is standing on stage ,he takes his time with his phrasing and make yu wait for his next note, I got and email fom a fan in Japan, , he is loved all over the world, it like a BIGG SECRETTT you dont know anything about him, but once you know , you want to know who else knows, and you find out the people all over the world who has found this great secret want o talk about him,I LOVE JIMMY SCOTT tHEYHAVE WEB SITE THAT TELLYOU WHERE HE IS APpEARING IN THE USA BUY THISSS"

"Now let's fast foward to the recordings featured on this Box Set...Yeah, we all heard the horror stories about Savoy Records owner Herman Lubinsky, but you gotta give him credit for releasing a truck load of 78's and 45's, as well as a HUGE catalog of FULL LENGHT ALBUMS! Most independent record companies wasn't even forming the words FULL LENGHT in their mouth in the 50's & 60's, but Savoy Records DID! (And in a big way!). Those who kinda know a little something about Little Jimmy Scott will quickly tell you he was more of a Jazz, Pop & MOR singer, but kept the best of the best Jazz musicians backing him on almost every one of his recording sessions for Savoy Records! This could be (and should be) the main reason why he never had Major Chart Hits, but on the other hand Savoy Records did release 3 (Three) FULL LENGHT ABLUMS between the late 50's to 1960, so that's saying something. ALL of those albums are included in this collection! And for those who are saying "So why buy it then?", how about this...You get 15 (Fifteen) tracks that was released as SINGLES ONLY! and 9 (Nine) UNRELEASED TRACKS!, and if that still ain't enough to get your attention, how about this...You get his brief return album (on Savoy Records) recorded in 1975 entitled: "Can't We Begin Again", which was probley recorded to finally finish out his legal mess/fight with Herman Lubinsky, who had prevented Little Jimmy Scott's 2 (Two) MASTERPIECE ALBUMS 1963's "Falling In Love Is Wonderful" And 1969's "The Source". BOTH were pulled from the Record Shop shelves, as well as Radio Stations! Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, you're still NOT MOVED????? How about 10 (Ten) Tracks from 1960 in STEREO! (Quite naturally all of the 1975 tracks are in Stereo). Simple-Easy-To-Read Liner Notes. Not a lot of killer pictures, in fact several are poor quality Black & White photos from the 50's, But DO WE PLAY PICTURES????. The ONLY FLAW on this collection is Savoy's failed attempt of trying to record Little Jimmy Scott in a R&B setting in 1958!...Thank God there was only 4 (Four) tracks recorded! There are too many steller performances on this Box Set to pluck from and point out. HERE'S QUICK SCOOP...You get 66 Tracks on 3 (Three) Compact Discs on this collection! For those who are just learning about Little Jimmy Scott you want to START HERE with this Box Set!...Then work your way to the Compact Discs "Falling In Love Is Wonderful" And "The Source", and you will have what the die-hard fans call THE ULTIMATE LITTLE JIMMY SCOTT COLLECTION!!!"
