"I first heard Jean Ritchie about 20 years ago at the Kentucky Music Weekend in Louisville Kentucky. No collection of her music is complete without this title. If you've never heard her before then there's no one to compare her to. She is the sound of the Appalachians, the queen of the mountains. Her music takes you to her home, sitting on the porch, 15 brothers and sisters, each one playing, singing, humming, dancing, or just tapping. You'll love this..."

"I first heard "Carols for All Seasons" back in the sixties when the vinyl LP of this came into our house. I must have listened hundreds of times to the unique voice of Jean Ritchie and these lovely simple songs. We have assigned the term "carol" almost exclusively to Christmas music in recent years. The term "carol" can be applied to an entire genre of sacred music, celebrating the seasons of the year.
This recording is a treasure"
Purity of the Season

"The purity of her voice, acapella and with traditional instrumentation brings a grace and beauty to these beloved carols. We may never hear holiday carols written with such spiritual feeling. "Rockin' around the Christmas Tree" is fun but does not provoke the same deep emotional response in us, although there are "fun" tunes on this cd!"
