The most brilliant Mendelssohn Octet ever recorded!

"Although only familiar with the Mendelssohn Octet on this recording, this is without a doubt the most tension filled performance ever recorded. If your close to a nervous breakdown, don't bother! BUT if you like a taut, brilliant, and superbly executed "Living Stereo" performance of the 17 year old Mendelssohn's Octet, this is THE milestone recording to hear!As for the other material on the disk, Heifetz is above all else a superb performer; a "Horowitz of the Violin". It is suspected that except for the vintage of the recording dates, the performances are among the very best!"

"Heifetz has done it again. This is the only recording to buy. I have listened to performance after performance and after hearing the Heifetz performance, none of the others even remotely keeps up. Power, beauty, musicality -- it is all here. This recording will also make the hair on the back of your neck stand up at points. Only Heifetz can do that!"
