I seem to have accumulated a foot-high stack of CDs people have given me or sent me, and I'm listening to them as I get a chance, mostly while working. My favourite from the last few days is definitely ist's King Martha, which you can hear bits of at www.myspace.com/ist. Smart lyrics, catchy tunes, and a nice, friendly website into the bargain. â?? I'm not sure if it's completely because of the lyrics, or if it's more likely the fault of the catchy horn and guitar riffs. Here, and in a lot more cases, there's something a lot more interesting. The songs weave through moods and textures beautifully, with some immaculate performances and arrangements.
