"Isabelle Aubret is one of the living "grandes dames de la chanson française". In this particular album, she is one of the great female interpreters of Brel, Trenet and Gainbourg for their compositions and is a great interpreter of Prévert and Aragon's lyrics into songs. This album represents the best of their works as well as hers.
Isabelle Aubret is a great reminder of Jacqueline François, Line Renaud, Françoise Hardy, as she displays a warm and soothing voice, and a flair for "bluesy" melodies.
This album contains great gems: "La source" , "Que serais-je sans toi", "Ne me quitte pas", "Les vieux", "Que c'est beau la vie", "Amsterdam", "Sous le ciel de Paris" and the list goes on.
I highly recommend this album."
