"Hildegarde Sell was one of America's most popular songstresses. She was nicknamed Queen of the Supper Clubs and she earned her title because of the class, elegance, style, and substance that she brought to those rooms whether in New York City, Paris, or anywhere in the world. She doesn't disappoint in this recent compilation of her music. I enjoy listening to the easy style of the big band era and she has sung with big band orchestras in another time and place. This compact disc is the best so far about Hildegarde and she's wonderful to listen too for the easy sounds of the big band era. Her voice in songs like "April in Paris," the classic "Darling, Je Vous Aime Beaucoup," and "June Is Bustin Out all Over," can make you smile even on the darkest days. Hildegarde who has passed away a few years ago at 99 years old should be enjoyed by a new wave of fans to rediscover this fascinating woman who danced with kings, heirs, businessman like Conrad Hilton, celebrities, etc. and was quite a humble devout Catholic woman."
