At 83 years of age, Henry Salvador has not lost any of his youth and has nothing left to prove, yet this is one of his best efforts to date. His voice has not changed; it still has that velvety smooth delivery helped by subtle arrangements between jazz and down-tempo influences. Beautiful bossa nova songs from the man who crafted 'Syracuse' - a must for all ages!!
"This is a lovely album for anyone who likes simple and smooth voices and light jazz/bossa nova backgrounds (think Joa Gilberto and Luis Bonfa, but French). The songs are very melodic with a definate air of melancholy. If you like this album see "Chansons de Amour" which is similar and as good. If you have fallen in love with Salvador be careful, however, because many of his albums repeat songs and a couple of his albums from the 60's and 70's are full of covers of stupid and menacing novelty songs, and the album that is part of a jazz series, "Salvador Sings the Blues", or similar, is he singing very jazzy lounge stuff with a group, like Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross."
Calming...

"This CD is especially wonderful on rainy days. It makes me feel like watching rain from a cafe window in Paris. (Actually, I was in a French cafe in Ohio where his CD was playing. I could not leave the cafe without asking who the singer was.) His voice is so soft and calming. I love every song in this CD."
The best Album of 2000

"A dear friend of ours in Paris who is a composer said this album is by far the best album for the year 2000. As Australians we agree. It conjures up so many images and brings together all the musical elements and styles we have been looking for from an artist. It is the sort of music I have been wishing I could write for years and years after visiting a jazz club in Paris on our honeymoon. A true inspiration. Just think of a hot balmy night on the beach in Cannes, Monte Carlo or Saint Tropez and we think you'll get the idea. Magnificent and it is moments like these that make our lives perfect!"
C'est génial!

"Henri Salvador, the artists who brought us Le Lion Est Mort Ce Soir (known as The Lion Sleeps Tonight in the US), has just released another jewel. This very romantic album contains thirteen mellow songs, each one as hypnotic as the next. Close your eyes and you may even see the Méditeranée! A pleasant mix of jazz, blues, and Salvador's enchanting voice, satisfaction is guarenteed."
Wonderful!

"I was first turned onto this album in a cafe in Paris. When I asked the owner what the name of the CD was, he brought out the CD case and said I must own it. I couldn't agree more!"
