"Just to be sure, this MCA reissue contains Simeone's 1965 recordings for Kapp Records - not the 1959 20th Century Fox recordings. One way to tell them apart is "O Bambino," a song recorded for the latter LP but not the first. Of course, one company - Universal - now owns both sets of masters, but they didn't when this CD was issued.... The 1990 Mercury CD contains the 1959 sessions originally issued as "Sing We Now For Christmas.""
Memories of Christmas Past

"Growing up, the playing of this album (back in the days when vinyl was king) was a sure sign that Christmas was coming. It brought the excitement for decorating the tree with ornaments that each had a story. Baking cookies and pies, getting up at 4 in the morning to start Christmas dinner. My own children are growing up with the same love of this music and beautiful memories to go with it. It's worthy of 10 stars!"

"This is an excellent CD. However, I wish that the original recording that I used to listen to as a kid 40 years ago was on CD. I have a 2 album set that includes Sing We Now Of Christmas with the Harry Simeone Chorale with brass choir and orchestra. This included the original version of The Little Drummer Boy. The second album is called, "Merry Christmas Carols with Organ and Chimes." It featured the original grand Wurlitzer Pipe Organ of the Radio City Music Hall. The album cover shows a fuzzy painting of three girls wearing coats and hats singing from some sheet music that the girl in the middle is holding. I enjoy this Christmas album more than any other. I ripped it from the record onto a CD so I can enjoy it wherever I go. Actually, having the pops and occasional noises on my CD that were present on the record makes it even more special for me."
Fortunate enough to actually own this great CD!!!

"Being that this is perhaps my all-time favorite of the Christmas albums I grew up listening to on vinyl, I feel extremely fortunate that I actually own a copy. I have only ever seen that one copy in my life, in a discount box at a long-since closed ... store near my home around 4-5 years ago, and I of course grabbed it right away. It was the last one of my "childhood" Christmas albums to complete my collection on CD. This CD has my favorite renditions of several songs - the title track, which I think is the consensus best recording of "The Little Drummer Boy"; The Carol of the Bells; and even Mary's Little Boy Child, which I like the more upbeat tempo of better than the original Harry Belafonte version (no disrespect meant to Harry). Some of the Christmas albums that I still love from my childhood, such as Ray Conniff, I think are rather corny and probably would not like at all if I were hearing them now for the first time - but this one I would recommend to anyone. It's just timeless, excellent, traditional Christmas music. Since it is so rare, I actually keep my original in a fireproof safe and I only play one of the several backup copies that I made with my CD recorder. I was EXTREMELY lucky to find this CD, I hope the rest of you get as lucky!"
