"This CD is a dream come true. Canadian/American stellar vocalist Gisele MacKenzie recorded this classic all French language collection of pop tunes for RCA Victor's Vik label some years ago. Making its CD debut, the album is a music lovers' blessing! Not only did BMG/Japan do the release 'up right' as a historical replica of the original LP, but the sound quality is splendid. Well known as the TV favorite of the 1950's and 1960's(Your Hit Parade, The Gisele MacKenzie Show, Sid Caesar's 4th TV wife, favorite Jack Benny fiddle partner, guest on every major drama and variety program)Gisele MacKenzie lends her warm contralto voice, blessed with perfect pitch, to standards like "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White," "Under Paris Skies," "Dinner for One Please James," "La Vie en rose," "September in the Rain," "Autumn Leaves," "C'est Si Bon" and others. During her lengthy recording career with labels like RCA, Capitol, Mercury and Everest, Gisele was ALWAYS backed by the best orchestras. This album is no different and features Neal Hefti, Sid Bass and George Siravo backing Gisele with a wide assortment of tasteful arrangements from lush strings and vocal chorus to big band. This classic album is NOT TO BE MISSED. Gisele still dazzels audiences with concerts and personal appearances!!
Now I wonder why RCA/BMG picked Japan as the origin of this CD pressing? Hopefully a grand artist of the magnitude of Gisele MacKenzie is getting her just residuals from such a release. If not, shame on BMG."
