Product DescriptionGiorgio Moroder wasn't single-handedly responsible for the advent of disco, but he was a huge force behind it. Not only was he a studio owner and producer, he was a songwriter and performer as well. When he and then-partner Pete Bellotte collaborated with Donna Summer on the epic, 17-plus-minute Love To Love You Baby, it was clear they were onto something. His subsequent film work on Midnight Express and Cat People gave his compositional skills a wider audience, and his work with Blondie on the track Call Me gave him entry into the elite of the New Wave.
From Here To Eternity, Moroder's 1977 concept album, sort of flipped the bird at the band Boston, which had haughtily proclaimed their debut album contained no electronic keyboards. Moroder responded by announcing only electronic keyboards were used on this recording.
In addition to being a huge influence on the dance scene, Moroder's work reveals the stirrings of electroclash decades before its emergence as a recognized pop form. Much like Kraftwerk, Moroder has gone largely unheralded by the American public for his pioneering role in electronic music. But it's almost impossible to listen to this album, itself over a quarter of a century old, without hearing the seeds of genius preparing to sprout.
