A Mature, Sophisticated Sound - My Fav. GM Album

"The first time I heard 'Older' I was disappointed because I was still in love with George Michael's 'Faith' album. This is NOT a repeat of what he'd done with previous albums. The overall mood of the album is rather fatalistic - the sound of a man who has lost everything he really cared about. After I got over the fact that this wasn't more of the same, I associated more easily with songs that speak out of desperation.
Synth instruments paired with traditional ones create a truely wonderful sound. I would call it a bit of a dated sound except I don't know of anyone else who used this style. I find it to be musical, sophisticated, and satisfying (even after listening to it for 10 years).
My favorite tracks are:
'Jesus to a Child' - a pitiable lament of a dead lover
'Fastlove' - an expression of the superficiality we seek in times of hurt (fast sex and partying)
'The Strangest Thing' - a search for truth in his state of affairs"
