Total Gaylords!
Dr. Glenn W. Briggs | KSC, Florida & Chengdu, China | 06/11/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a collection that will take you "waaaayyy back," especially if you are from the Detroit area. The Gaylords were very prominent in the midwest in the early through late fifties, and they produced what you might call a number of "novelty tunes," such as "The Little Shoemaker," but which became very, very popular. Their initial success was built around their rendition of "Tell Me You're Mine," which was immensely successful.

To really enjoy this collection, you almost "...had to be there!" But take my word for it, this is the best and most complete collection of Gaylord's material in existence. Virtually everything they recorded, except the advertisements for various Detroit-area businesses, are there. What I enjoy most about the album is that all of the flip-sides of successful 45 RPM records are here as well, and some are better than the hit sides, to include "Ramona," "Aye-Aye-Aye," "I Love You," "Spinning a Web," and "Strings of My Heart."

Buy it? You betcha!"
