"This is probably my favorate MOI album, though Uncle Meat is more ambitious and objectively better.
But it is hard to beleve Zappa edited this together after this band was kaput. The way Zappa jumps from avant-garde (Didja Get Any Onja) to blistering blues (Directly from my heart to you) to other styles on the album feels entirely natrual, as if no other peice could follow the one that proceeded it. Weasles has a white hot threat throughout, which never lets up.
If you are intersted in Uncle Frank, I can't think of a better starting point. If the music doesn't get you, the cover art will---wouldn't it make a great tattoo?"
It's Zappa at his best

"I had this album (LP) from when I was in college - drove my mother nuts. Now I have it on CD - driving my kids nuts. You just can't argue with timeless classics."
Anything goes, no boundaries...and it's music in its purest

"The problem with pop music is that it has to fit in with certain rules and guidelines; if something isn't marketable, it's not deemed "pop worthy". And usually, the sort of music that can't be marketed as pop music is the most interesting music, and certainly music in its truest form.
Frank Zappa is the first person that comes to mind with this being said. The great thing about Zappa is that he played the kind of music that he wanted and didn't worry about fitting in with the pop mainstream, which is something I love. I think when music comes directly from your gut and you do what you want without worrying about how the mainstream will take it, THAT is music in its purest and most honest form...and the same can be said for "Weasels Ripped My Flesh".
From the controlled madness of the free-form jazz-fusion of "Didja Get Any Onya?" to the guitar-based "My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama", to everything in between, this is music with no boundaries or limitations. Instead, this is an album where anything goes, the rulebook is thrown out the window. (Actually, this can be considered the starting point for avant-garde music with what I just said being taken into consideration). But overall, this is one of Zappa's wildest and greatest albums. All Zappa fans are sure to love this one, and for those getting into Zappa, get ready for a wild ride with this one! Thanks for the time, and peace."

"THIS ALBUM IS AN AMALGAM OF THE KIND OF MUSIC THAT FRANK ZAPPA AND THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION WERE PLAYING IN THE LATE 60'S, IT CONTAINS AVANT GARDE, FREE FROM JAZZ, DOO-WOP, BLUES, ROCK, AND EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC ALL ROLLED INTO ONE. I GUESS IT POSSESSES ALL OF THE ELEMENTS THAT WENT INTO THE MUSICAL INFLUENCES OF FRANK ZAPPA, AND THEREFORE, COULD BE CONSIDERED ONE OF HIS MOST "COMPLETE" ALBUMS, IN TERMS OF HIS "CONCEPTUAL CONTINIUTY"- EVEN THO' THESE SONGS WERE RECRODED OVER TIME AND ASEMBLED FOR THIS ALBUM LATER. GREAT VIOLIN PLAYING BY SUGARCANE HARRIS (ON AN OLD LITTLE RICHARD SONG), & MULTI INSTRUMENTS FROM IAN UNDERWOOD. GREAT COVER ART BY CAL SCHENKEL, IT'S ONE OF MY ALLTIME FAVORITE ALBUM COVERS (ALONG WITH "STICKY FINGERS"- COVER ART BY ANDY WARHOL, "BIG BAMBU", & "CHEAP THRILLS"-COVER ART BY R. CRUMB)."
