"Frank Sinatra's Greatest Hits is a single CD that doesn't go far enough to be a real single CD retrospective of Frank Sinatra's artistry. This disappoints me. However, the sound quality is great and the artwork is nicely done.
"Strangers In The Night" features Frank at his very best; he sings this passionately and I rarely, if ever, hear a better rendition of this classic love ballad. Frank's excellent diction bolsters his performance; and his voice is full of warmth. "Summer Wind" is a romantic favorite of many men who like to dance with their sweethearts to this tune. Frank delivers "Summer Wind" without a superfluous note and this impresses me. I really like "Summer Wind" and I predict you'll like it, too!
"It Was A Very Good Year" is a slower tempo ballad that is reflective and romantic in its own way; Frank does justice to this song by performing it with great sensitivity. The musical arrangement is very well done as well. "Forget Domani" has a great flavor to it; Frank sings this to perfection and he breathes new life into it in a way I've never heard before!
"That's Life" was always one of my very favorite Frank Sinatra tunes; his relentless optimism (until the very last line of the song) is infectiously catchy and performed like the ultimate pro that Frank was! "That's Life" features a great organ arrangement and the backup vocalists harmonize very nicely. Frank really belts this out!
"When Somebody Loves You" features Frank singing effortlessly as the notes change quickly between major and minor; the lush musical arrangement is quite striking and the overall effect of "When Somebody Loves You" is quite strong. "This Town" gets the royal treatment from Frank who belts this out as strong as he ever could! The CD ends with Frank performing "Softly As I Leave You." "Softly As I Leave You" glistens like pure gold in Frank's capable hands.
The CD sure does have some incredible hits on it--but there's no way a single CD could ever capture Frank Sinatra's "Greatest Hits." They could have at least added an extra song or two; but they seemed not to care. What a shame!
Three and ½ stars for a great CD with a title that's misleading. This is too short to be called Frank's "Greatest Hits."
"
Greatest Hits indeed!

"I love this CD. It has some of the best songs by Sinatra, including one of my personal favorites "the world we knew" (surprisingly missing from all other Sinatra collections)."
A summer wind!

"Its been awhile since I reconnected with the Chaiman of the Board. I am glad I did so. This CD exemplifies what a true entertainer/ showman is. It is so pleasant listening to this music again and not the simple noise that is passed off as music today. There are lyrics, melodies and rhythms here all produced by People. Not by loop machines computors, bells and whistles. BRing back the Music. Start here. Enjoy Salud i cien anni."
A few great hits, the rest aren't...

"There are a few great songs on this album (Summer Wind, This Town - both were featured in the movie "Matchstick Men" with Nicholas Cage), and you won't find them anywhere else (including iTunes). Unfortunately the rest of the album is basically over-produced mainstream arrangements, some of which are pretty darn cheesey...
Even so, it may be worth buying the album just for the few good ones - they're top-shelf."
Come on, frankie blue eyes? this is a 10, not a 5!!!
