"SOME OF EYDIE GORME'S VERSIONS WERE UNKNOWN TO ME ON THIS CD. BUT, ONCE I HEARD THEM, I LOVED THEM ALL. FOR EXAMPLE, [ALL THAT LOVE WENT TO WASTE] BY FAR SURPASSED DUSTY SPRINGFIELD'S VERSON OF IT. THE LATTER SANG IT IN THE FILM, A TOUCH OF CLASS. THESE RECORDINGS GO BACK TO THE EARLY '60S WITH GORME'S VERSION OF [YOU'LL NEVER KNOW]. EYDIE'S VOICE, IN THE DIFFERENT STAGES OF HER RECORDING CAREER, IS GREAT TO HAVE ON ONE CD!"

"I don't know when Eydie recorded this collection of songs from the silver screen, but she still sounds just wonderful. Considering this lady is no spring chicken, more power to her!"
Wonderful Eydie

"Once upon a time there were talented women and men who actually could sing and carry a tune. Eydie is from that Era. Wonderful pipes some of the best in the business. This collection is from her vast past performances. You always hear about Steve and Eydie, who were great together (so sad that Eydie is no longer touring)but Eydie could stand flatfooted and secure all on her own. Once Eydie touches a song there is no other like it. If you really like them go to their webside [...] and take a look Yours for the taking."
Eydie Gorme is attractive with a genre of screen music.

"Her song is very wonderful in not only Latin music but also other fields.
She sings "The Days Of Wine and Roses" not to betray my expectation.
Besides, "As Time Goes By","The Way We Were","Secret Love","A Time For Us","It Was A Good Time" are very good, too.

"Silver Screen Songs is a wonderful album of songs from the movies all performed by the talented songbird Eydie Gorme. Eydie is in excellent form on this album; and when I hear her sing I really love it. The quality of the sound is excellent and that artwork reflects good judgment, too.
The album starts off auspiciously with Eydie performing a wonderful rendition of "As Time Goes By" from "Casablanca." Dooley Wilson would be proud! Eydie handles this with grace and she really delves deep into this ballad to make it shine bright; it's a wonderful beginning number for this album. "You'll Never Know" by Harry Warren and Mack Gordon comes from the movie entitled "Hello, Frisco, Hello;" Eydie does this faultlessly with all her heart and soul. The male backup singers sound good--not that Eydie really needed it; but they do sound good anyway. The harp adds a nice touch to the musical arrangement, too. Listen also for Eydie to do a splendid job on "The Look of Love" from "Casino Royale;" this melody is romantic, easy on the ear and yet ooh, so sophisticated. Great! "It Had To Be You" showcases Eydie squarely front and center; and that's quite all right by me! Eydie can truly sing anything she wants to sing.
"The Man I Love" is a stand-out of this CD; Eydie never lets go of a single superfluous note and this is yet another major highlight of this album. "The Way We Were" comes from the movie of the same name; Eydie does a masterful job on this and she never skips a beat. She handles complex tempo and key changes like the pro she always was and always will be! "Long Ago and Far Away" stuns me with its beauty; Eydie Gorme makes it extra special with her sensitive interpretation of this classic ballad.
"Secret Love" from "Calamity Jane" has a fantastic musical arrangement to accompany Eydie as she sings this very well; Doris Day would love it! "Secret Love" is another very pretty tune and Eydie does this wonderfully. "A Time for Us" from "Romeo and Juliet" is quite memorable; and listen also for "Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo" from the movie "Lili." "Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo" has Eydie Gorme front and center and she sings this beautifully.
"What Am I Doing Here" has music that fits in perfectly with the lyrics Eydie sings. Eydie again handles key modulations like a pro; and "The First Time" lacks nothing--this music is all THAT good. The CD ends well with Eydie Gorme performing "It Was a Good Time." "It Was a Good Time" is emotional and it tugs at my heartstrings; Eydie pulls this off without a hitch.
Silver Screen Songs demonstrates just how well Eydie Gorme can deliver a tune from great motion pictures; this is a delight for her fans and people who enjoy classic movies and even show tunes in general. I highly recommend this album.
