"This is the incomparable Etta Jones (not James), but the label producing these recordings (32 Jazz) continues to re-package and re-edit them in subsequent editions. For a better all-around representation of the singer's work in the 80s and 90s (not to mention an unbeatable value), check out her album "Doin' What She Does Best." It contains most of these tracks in addition to added treasures."

"the grand lady of jazz is back with a new cd of standards that impress even the most unschooled of jazz affeciandoes. her tremulous voice scores big time on such songs as "my man", "stardust", and "crazy he calls me". miss jones has been fronting the best musicians in the jazz world for over fifty years, but astonishingly remains one of the lesser known jazz artists. she is like a beautiful and unspoiled getaway destination that tourists have yet to discover. her impeccable choice of material only adds to her allure, choosing such composers as hoagy carmichael "georgia on my mind" gershwin and arlen "the man that got away" or brooks bowman's "east of the sun". this cd, and the entire catalogue of etta's music deserves a listen, and the praise of all who fall prey to her talent and charm."
