Synopsis
Album Description Singer Eileen Rodgers was "discovered" by Charlie Spivak at the Carnival Lounge in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. After two years in Spivak's band, she struck out on her own, landing auditions (and a subsequent contract) with Mitch Miller. With Ray Conniff and his orchestra, she offers a dozen selections on "Blue Swing," most of them firmly associated with the swing era and most of them blue, not in the sense of the classic blues, but deriving from them. This reissue also includes four bonus tracks, originally recorded for an LP that was never released. Similar CDs |
CD ReviewsSwinging Blue With Eileen Rodgers Gary J. Huhn | Fort Wayne, IN USA | 07/28/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "The primary portion of this CD is comprised of songs which I've had for several (40 or more) years on a hi-fi album -- one of the first record albums I purchased in my teen years.
I've always liked Miss Rodgers voice and her treatments of the songs on the record and ultimately on this CD. Additionally, there is a bonus number of song tracks on the CD. Recommend it to anyone who enjoys vocalists from any time period. Gary J. Huhn" |
