Julius La Rosa -- Great singer, great guy!

"Julie La Rosa was a Navy buddy of mine (at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in 1949/50 and, later, in Washington, D.C., when Arthur Godfrey arranged to have him transferred to the Navy Band -- and Yours Truly was assigned to the Anacostia Naval Air Station in D.C.). He's a terrific singer whose albums (and this is only one of several) will remind you a bit of Frank Sinatra in his prime. Moreover, La Rosa is one great guy who never let his fame go to his head (he has his own star on Hollywood's "Walk of Fame," and THAT's enough to give anybody an inflated ego!) He still remembers his pals who "knew him when" -- and even keeps in touch with them. This CD of his is like his others -- wonderful music beautifully performed. You don't have to be a devotee of the '50s music styles to enjoy Julie's soothing singing. It's timeless. By the way, the man is now singing as well as he ever did -- maybe even better. If you ever get the chance, catch his act as he continues to tour the U.S. with the popular "Big Band" nostalgia shows (most recently with the "Artie Shaw Orchestra"). -- Joe Carvajal"

"A little Venice, a little moonlight and lots of beautiful Italian love songs and trust me, you'll never want to go home again! Unless, of course, you live in sunny Italy! I grew up on beautiful Italian love songs and let me tell you, nobody sings them better than Julius LaRosa. Only problem was, when Julius sang them, everyone in Brooklyn, N.Y. (where I lived) sang along with them! But I don't care where you're from, you're gonna' fall in love again, or for the first time, when you listen to this fine collection of great songs!"
