"I wonder why a person would buy an album without knowing anything about it. Especially one that is obviously in French. In these days when a female singers talent is measured by her bra size divided by her age it is a pleasure to hear a woman with character in her voice. Edith Piaf is like a boxer whose every fight is recorded on their face. Her life is in her voice. From her childhood in a French brothel, to being blind for several years, to working with the resistance during WWII while singing for the Germans, to losing her only true love in a plane crash. It is all there every time she opens her mouth to sing. You don't have to even speak French to feel it. There are a few of her songs that I wish were on this album but they are all wonderful."
