Give My Regards to Broadway (George M. Cohan)
Donny Osmond didn't let himself be deterred by a disastrous Broadway debut in 1982 (George M. Cohan's Little Johnny Jones closed after opening night). Assisted by legendary pop producer Phil Ramone, Osmond puts a contemporary spin on a wide variety of Broadway tunes (though nothing from Joseph), emphasizing shows from the previous decade: Rent (a funky R&B "Seasons of Love"), Jekyll & Hyde (a smooth "This Is the Moment"), Aida, even Riverdance. Osmond also parlayed his Andrew Lloyd Webber ties to include songs from two shows that hadn't yet hit Broadway: The Beautiful Game's "Our Kind of Love" (in its first commercial recording, though the tune falls short of Lloyd Webber's usual catchiness) and Whistle Down the Wind's "No Matter What." Particularly inviting are Seussical the Musical's "Solla Sollew" and Saturday Night Fever's "Immortality." Finally, Osmond closes the book on Little Johnny Jones by ending with a grand, sweeping arrangement of the show's "Give My Regards to Broadway," in which he vows he'll be there ere long. We'll be waiting, Donny. --David Horiuchi« less

"I had this album with me for years and I still absolutely love this album - really!
"This Is the Moment" is an album of Broadway songs and it is beautifully crafted with lush, contemporary musical productions.
Donny defines these Broadway songs his own way. The songs are creatively, passionately, enthusiastically, and if the song calls for it, sometimes, humorously translated, making it a an interesting and delightful adventure for the listener.
Get this album because you love Broadway songs!
Get this album because you are a Donny Osmond fan!
Get this album because you love great music!
Get this album because there is something here for everyone!
"Donny Osmonds new Cd is definitely worth your hard earned money. He has come a long way from his "Puppy Love" days and has earned the respect from hard to please critics with this selection of Broadway tunes. His rendition of "This Is The Moment" literally gave me goosebumps and his duet with Vanessa Williams "Not While Im Around" was beautifully done and should be released as a single. His version of Youve Got A Friend In Me with Rosie O'Donnell is fun to listen to and it has a few ending quips of the talk show host that will surely make you smile. His voice is so smooth and inviting it will make you wonder why he has been hiding that voice since the 80s!This is definitely a shining moment for Donny and certainly reflects in the title track.I was never a big fan of Broadway but thanks to this cd it has opened my eyes to what Broadway has to offer.Even if you're not a die-hard Osmond fan you should give it a listen, you will be happy you did.Karen P"

"Donny Osmond is back stronger than ever with what I consider his best work to date, "This Is The Moment". The songs are all classic and contemporary Broadway fare, but with an interesting and suprising pop twist. Even if you aren't really a Broadway buff or fan, you'll enjoy this CD. Donny's smooth, strong voice is used to it's advantage here. The strongest tracks are the title track, the beautiful song "This Is The Moment" from 'Jekyll And Hyde', "Immortality" from 'Saturday Night Fever', and the absolutely gorgeous duet with Vanessa Williams "Not While I'm Around" from 'Sweeney Todd'. The whole CD is brilliantly arranged and produced.I also love his renditions of "Seasons Of Love" from 'Rent' and "No Matter What" from 'Whistle Down The Wind'. The weakest track I think is "You've Got A Friend In Me" from 'Toy Story'. It just never grabbed me and I could do without Rosie O'Donnell singing. This is definately Donny Osmond's moment !"

"In This Is the Moment, Donny Osmond, now at the age of 40+, provides his listeners with a truly outstanding Broadway-variety album. Donny Osmond's voice, his creative and often passionate interpretations of the lyrics and the excellent selection he chose to perform make this a "must own" album.
I have been listening to this album for over a year now and I have yet to tire of it! Osmond has created one of the best showtune albums in recent years. While not a fan of the Puppy Love Teen Pop Idol Osmond, I am sure a fan of the guy and the voice that grew up.
I have purchased several copies of this album for friends and have been given the oddest looks when the presents were opened. You got me a Donny Osmond album??? What is wrong with you? I have asked each one to do one thing -- just listen to it once. Everyone has reported back to me that they were astounded at Osmond's great voice and expressed their gratitude for introducing them to a singer they had written off a long time ago.
So I Will Close With -- "Just Listen To This Album Once" I think many will be delightfully surprised!
