"Here we have the very first two albums from the famous duo Donny and Marie on one spectacular cd. Oh, were they young and also was I. I was an early teen and can clearly remember when I'M LEAVING IT ALL UP TO YOU was playing on the radio and my excitement when buying the album. Their harmonies together were amazing and I was introduced to my teenage crush - Marie. I wore the first album out. They very maturely handled some classic songs like LET IT BE ME and TRUE LOVE. The hits here have become classics. The title track succesfully introduced us to Donny and Marie but the other hits and standout numbers MORNING SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN, THE UMBRELLA SONG and IT TAKES TWO helped form their identity.
Then we have the second album MAKE THE WORLD GO AWAY. No truly succesful singles but a continuation of their rare beautiful harmonies and interpretations of some classic songs. IT'S ALL IN THE GAME, WHEN SOMEBODY CARES FOR YOU and LIVING ON MY SUSPICION are all standouts with the joyful TOGETHER a wonderful uptempo number. This album showed that the success of the first was not a fluke and that Donny and Marie had staying power. It also laid the groundwork of the even more succesful future to come.
This cd with both albums is amazing. The liner notes are very informative and the digital remastering is crystal clear. Brilliant.
This music does truly stand the test of time as have Donny and Marie themselves. Enjoy."
Donny & Marie-The early sound

"These albums from 1974-75 are the early, more squeaky sounding Donny & Marie. I much prefer their next 4 albums, but these are also wonderful. "Morning side of the mountain" is a classic, lovely song. "I'm leaving it all up to you", although their highest charting single (and album) isn't close to their best songs. "The Umbrella song" is another classic along with their version of "It takes two". As they matured in the coming years they sounded better.
"Make the world go away" is a little bit better than the first album. "Together" is a great song, that was a hit for another soul group in 1980 called "Tierra". Living on my suspicion was written by Donny & Merrill and the B-side to the title track single. It's different and I really like it. Winning combination is the best D&M album in my opinion, but all of them contain great songs that I love and will continue listening to forever! This is the start of a long career for D&M, before the TV series. Don't leave it out of your collection."

A little known fact - one of the reasons Marie became Donny's singing partner was because Donny's voice was maturing and "breaking".
Hence, he couldn't hit the high notes as he could before.
Enter Marie to help with that situation and the duo "Donny and Marie" was born.
It was one of the wisest and best decision the Osmonds ever made because Donny and Marie made great music and The Donny and Marie Show entertained and thrilled millions around the world.
