CD Reviews

Dixie carter is amazing and funny
Mark Crow | dallas, texas | 01/30/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This album of Wallowitch's music is really amuzing at times and very funny. If you like the antics of Julia Sugarbaker, on Designing Women, you'll love imagining her singing these songs in typical Julia style., especially since Dixie Carter, ( the star of the album), will always be the one and only " Julia Sugarbaker". This album is a hoot and Dixie carter has an incredible voice."

"Who'd of guessed that the star of "Designing Women" could be so successfully adept at keeping a one woman cabaret act by a quite lesser known composer so beguiling. John Wallowitch serves up 17 memorable songs on this live recording of Dixie Carter's sharp humor and wonderfull singing voice before a small and intimate audience, where you think that the next song couldn't be more clever, original or catchy. But they succeed. And for a special treat, Wallowitch even joins Dixie for a few numbers. Songs like "I'm 27", "Florida", "Cheap, Decadent Drivel" and "Frog and Toad" are the kind that stay in your mind, not so much to an irritating point where you may sing them all day, but rather when you hear them, you smile at the rememberance of the tune. I would recommend this to any person who is a fan of Miss Carter, or just likes good ol' fashion ballads that couldn't sound more like they were born in Tennessee."
This album is absolutely fabulous!!

"This album is full of hilarious songs and great writing. The singer Dixie Carter is absolutely delightful and the mastermind behind it all, John Wallowitch is amazing. An excellent musical piece!"
