"Diane salutes her heroine, Dinah Washington. The songs here are made uniquely Diane's, but this album is a fine tribute to Dinah. The songs are beautifully arranged, dripping with strings and not overproduced like some of her previous works. Diane takes the lyric of each song and catches them on the tip of her tongue; the end result is sultry. Some of the songs are short, the cd itself barely clocks in at half an hour, leaving you with wanting more. All the songs are so good it's really hard to pick one but if I have to it would be "How Deep Is The Ocean." How does one measure feelings of love?"

"Having been around for a bit, I believed I had listened to all of the more sophisticated songtresses. Jeri Sothern, Lena Horne, Chris Connor,Diana Krall and June Christy to name just a few However upon hearing Diane Schuur's rendition of "love Walked in", I was literally mesmorized! The content and the phrasing left me dumbstruck. In the second half she let's the words"Love drag out and rolls it off the tip of her tongue". The result is sultry and kind of a come hither offering, The mere thought of this part of the song, makes me want to meet it's author. Move over girls, and let a leader into your circle."

"My love affair with Dinah Washington started when my older sister played those great Dinah hits of the late 50s' early 60's and I was hooked...spin forward to this brilliant tribute collection and you have a classic set of vocals that hold up to the original...this is moving and brilliant singing and Diane Schuur is the great jazz singer of her generation!!! Loose yet sophisicated in the opening "LOVE WALKED IN", it is clear that this is a rare singer in brilliant form and from the quality of this vocal it is apparant this is going to be the finest magical musical journey possible with an extraordinary singer!!! "TIME AFTER TIME" has never sounded quite as gorgeous and "SAY IT ISN'T SO", "BLUE GARDENIA", AND "NEVER LET ME GO" are so deeply moving that they become completely haunting and mesmerizing. "YOU'RE A SWEETHEART" swings and is a fine up-tempo jazzy treat as is the sublime "NOTHING EVERY CHANGES MY LOVE". "HOW DEEP IS THE OCEAN" is another deeply moving performance that can easily choke one up and "SUNDAY KIND OF LOVE" is the definitive version of this wonderful standard...noboby goes inside these wonderful classics with such emotional depth or vocal beauty as demonstrated throughout this tour-de-force masterpiece. Closing this tremendous collection is a lush and sensual "I WANNA BE LOVED" and it doesn't get any better than this!!! Anyone who loves great singers do not miss this masterwork while it is still available and BRAVO Diane!!!!
