"I had forgotten how incredible this lady was. Growing up I listened to her jazz recordings and was blown away. Then, I lost track of her for years, and came upon later recordings, like this one, that showed she had gone to a more soulful, bluesy style. And does she blow you out of the water! A voice of impressive range and strength, I often thought of Aretha as I listened, even though Dakota was older. Sadly, we lost her last year at the age of 75, but if you are tired of the bubble gum singers of today and want to hear a truly great talent, get ready to be transported to Dakota heaven. Highlights are Girl Talk, Let Me Off Uptown and Heartbreak. Her musical backing and arrangements are second to none."
