Synopsis

Album Description
"This is a musical homecoming inspired by the sounds I've heard and loved in Memphis through the years. It's a joy to honor the musicians who originally created them by keeping them alive in my own way. My love of music and life has given me all I've needed to keep singing in spite of some critics' past opinions. This CD is my answer to them, my gift to those who believed in me, and my proudest reward to myself for never giving up." - Cybill Shepherd

"Cybill's voice is undeniably one of the best kept secrets in America. I'd put her along side Barbara Strisand and Whitney Houston. Her voice is truly distinctive and uncommon. Why this CD isn't at the top of the best seller list is probably because she has a lousy marketing team. "Talk To Me Memphis" is a combination of blues and jazz with some very enthusiastic arrangements thrown in to make this CD an outstanding musical event. Cybill flirts with the listener as she takes you on a brilliant and harmonious journey that delights the senses. You'll have fun listening to this very well done and upbeat CD. After I listened to each song, the first time through, I actually went out and purchased an expensive set of headphones so I could catch every heavenily note and listen more intimately to Cybill's unmistakably beautiful voice. If you want to treat yourself to a delightful hour of music that you can't help but love, I'd reccommend that you buy this CD today. And, if Cybill's marketing people read this, how about letting the whole world know that this lady has a voice that's as good as anyone I've ever heard. Get to work! Moviestar, television star and singing sensation... that's Cybill. Give us more!"
Beautiful Memphis music from a Memphis lady

"Cybill actually began as a folk singer before becoming famous as an actress. Her acting career is of no interest to me, so my assessment of Cybill is based entirely on her ability as a singer and the quality of the music. No problem there - Cybill has a lovely voice and uses it well on a selection of songs that may be described as jazz with a blues flavor.Three of the songs - Power of love, Mama's cooking and Find another fool - are covers of Marcia Ball songs. Marcia is an excellent blues-rock singer-songwriter, whose songs Cybill does full justice to. The old standard Tennessee waltz began life as a country song but has been covered by singers in many genres of music. Cybill's version is certainly impressive. Other brilliant covers include Beale Street blues and Walking the dog.Cybill co-wrote the title track, a superb song that really says what the album is all about. If you enjoy jazz with a touch of blues, you will surely enjoy this album."

"I have never listened to a variety of music that made me visuallise so much. When I listened to tracks like "BALE STREET BUES" and the album track "TALK MEMPHIS TO ME", I closed my eyes and I was in a smoke filled,down-towm New York jazz club in the 30's and Mrs Sephard was singing away through the cold new york night while the sound of city traffic ond police syrens were drowned away by the lilting melody and entrancing accomponyment. I surgest you buy this album because it will not only inspire you it will take you back in time as she "TALKS MEMPHIS TO ME"."
