"i tried this album because i was fascinated by colette magny's picture and the track listing. a french woman, she was apparently intrigued by american language and culture and american singers, especially billie holiday and bessie smith. this is a most eclectic album, ranging from chopin to the black panther party national anthem to a really jazzy version of all of me. it is not always easy to listen to but it is impossible not to listen. i don't think i have heard anyone like her ever. quel discovery!"
