Great new songs

"I was a Claudine fan in the days of vinyl. If you liked her in the 70's, I think you'll like this album better still. "Peace Will Come" is excellent, as is "Electric Moon," "Wake Up to Me," and "Remember the Good." These could have been chart songs, could have given her a reputation as a serious interpreter of very interesting unusual songs, that none of her 60's - 70's songs ever could have done. They aren't just pretty, breathy songs in the Claudine style - they are great writing presented in a way that really brings out what the song writer must have had in mind - and, they are songs that you probably haven't heard elsewhere. Of course, a number of her covers on this CD are forgettable. But get the CD (because iTunes has never heard of her) and copy off the best songs."
Fun, Guilty Pleasure

"This is a good starter CD of Claudine Longet's work. "Broomstick Cowboy" is lovely, and the French lyrics of "Ain't No Mountain" add something more fun to a previously less than interesting song. I also really love "Close to You" and "We've Only just Begun". If Elmer Fudd were a wispy cute girl, it'd sound like this, and I mean that in the most magnificent way possible.
I do have a ridiculous appreciation of the absurd, though and that's a big reason why I love this. I strongly recommend listening to Claudine in the car while someone next to you is thumping loud rap, the contrast is hysterical."
