"Exquisite, technically superior a-capella singing in the barbershop (salon-shop?) style. The first 14 tracks, from 1952, convey the sweet style of the Chordettes working very closely together in highly-disciplined and balanced fashion. Their intonation is near perfect, the delivery superbly controlled.
The remaining 9 tracks come from 1954 after a slight change in personnel. The style of the Chordettes had begun to change and the sound is not as 'pure' as that from two years earlier. There is some forceful rendition, and the pitch does drift off-key at times. However there is some very clever performance of lighter numbers.
This is a quality compilation CD from Sony."

"Awesome compilation of barbershop standards, arranged by Walter Latzko, one of the top barbershop arrangers, and sung by the one of the best quartets, the Chordettes. There is a hard-to-find companion sheet music book, Harmony Encores, also the arrangements are available from the Barbershop Harmony Society. So if you want to make your own quartet, this is one good way to get started."
