Good Representative Recording of the Early Renaissance

"It is difficult to find good recordings of early Renaissance music - most recordings seem to go strait from the Medieval to the High Renaissance leaving this very interesting century untouched. This recording has a good variety of sacred and secular works (both vocal and instrumental) by the big names of the century: Dunstable, Power, Binchois, and Dufay. If you want to know the work that lead up to Josquin, I highly recommend this CD. The liner notes do not explain the music or offer translations (thus the rating of 4 stars instead of 5). If you are intested in this time, get the CD along with a book on early Renaissance music. It is definitely worth the effort to explore."
