Already back then I was fascinated with all the different styles she mastered in her clear and expressive voice. Back then I had no idea that she recorded so many songs in english (and other languages). I came across this CD almost by accident and it brought back wonderful memories of her old records and her show. The sound quality is excellent and does her performance justice. With the revival of classical swing and the swank music of the ffties and sixties, Caterina should not be overlooked. She is in a class of her own." I still have a vinyl copy of her HI FI Nightingale record from my childhood, although it is quite worn. Finding Miss Valente's amazing voice preserved for future generations gives me hope. If you have never heard Catrina Valente sing before you will be amazed... very like a European Yma Sumac in terms of her range, but far more versitile and talented. The arrangement on "Secret Love", among others, seems particularly innovative. Overall a must have for those who truly appreciate the great vocal stylists of this period."
