CD Reviews

Sinatra proclaimed "Carol's the best kept secret in the UK."

"I feel like I have found a treasure in Carol Kidd MBE. I know Frank Sinatra was right when he complimented Carol Kidd in 1990. It was enough to quit her hotel career and pursue music full time. Carol is classic, graceful, and ladylike in stature without an ounce of vanity. She is truly a classic example that great singers live among us. Her voice is quite heavenly to listen too. I wish she would stretch voice beyond jazz music but listening to her sing the classics is quite relaxing, breathtaking, and pleasurable. Most people don't know Carol Kidd in the USA and it's a shame because her voice is truthfully on the same level as the great jazz singers of our time. I only wish people would listen to even these samples that provide just a hint of wanting more. I never heard of Carol Kidd until I got her Gershwin compact disc and listened with awe at her voice. She plays everywhere that welcomes her with open arms. Her voice is well-tuned to every song she sings. You don't care if she's singing Happy Birthday, Gershwin, or jazz. Keep singing and making records, Carol. I'll keep buying them."
Excellent - Don't pay inflated price

"This excellent disc by a great singer has recently been widely available on Amazon for prices ranging from $6.00 to $12.00. The dealers who suddenly put a disc up for $100 as soon as a copy is not available are artificially trying to change the market prices. The next dealer thinks his is worth alot of money too (wrong!). Then the Amazon marketplace gets ruined and the discs just sit there until a sucker comes along. These prices are not based on any true collector's value or rarity. After you buy one of these $100 discs, you may be shocked to find that the real "trade-in" value is $2 to $3!! Often these imported discs are still available from the UK market at normal prices."
