"Italy in the time of Cara was living one of the highest moments in art. The diferent courts in the peninsula based their power and prestige not only in their armies or economics, but also in art. Isabella d'Este was one of this renaissance rulers who knew that culture was a great propaganda for their states. Among the most interesting composers is Marchetto Cara. His figure was a mistery in his own time. He wrote some of the most beautiful songs of lute. In this cd we have a great selection. My favourite in this recording is " Perche son tuto fuoco" ( because I am all fire) .
It seems that in some of these courts. Playes were hidden while they were playing, and the lord of the house could enjoy this music in total privacy. That is is called musica segretta, the secret music. A joy for all the senses.I really like this selection, and even the price is quite right."
