(3 out of 5 stars)

"Total of 34 tracks of obscure blues artists (many before my time) that was in some sort of an inspiration to the music of Captain Beefheart. Some of these tunes are a bit out there - as others are quite entertaining I thought. Performers like Duke Mitchell, Victoria Spivey with Lonnie Johnson, Lord Buckley, Blind Willie Johnson, Cab Calloway (didn't he appear in the 'Blues Brothers' movie?), Al White among others make for one heck of an interesting experience here. Don't believe I've ever sat through a CD like this one. Listen to this site's provided sound bites and then go from there."
