"From the first notes, you will be seduced by the heartful, sensuously elegant playing of Barrueco. It's easy to tell that he has lived with this music for a long time. Each piece adds a new dimension to your experience of 20th century Latin American guitar music. One Barrios piece ravishingly spotlights the local folkloric traditions while another resonates with the inspiration of Bach. A Ponce selection enchants us deeply as any Chopin scherzo. The Piazzolla duets with flute invigorate our appreciation of the tango. In CANTOS Y DANZAS, Barrueco has given us a wonderful gift."

Maravilloso!

"Barrueco, if you are not familiar with him, is undoubtedly one of the masters of the classical guitar. True to form, this CD wholly supports his reputation: his interpretations are very tasty and his technical mastery shine in this recording.I really enjoyed his selection of pieces which involve solo guitar, duet with voice, and duet with flute. If you don't have it, get it!"
