"Blossom is Awesome, Fantastic Songs, BUT...the reproduction for this CD is so poor. You can tell that Blossom sounds great but the production values are so poor that she is all but drowned out. This disc is in SORE NEED of remastering because it has to be one of her best projects, the song selection is impeccable. As it stands, this disc is for hard core Blossom Dearie fans only."
Hires to you, Blossom!

"This recording is indeed a rare gem. After her stint with Verve Records ended in the early 1960's Blossom recorded this wonderful album for the Hire's Root Beer Company (yes, you read that correctly!) in 1963 as the cover suggests. You could purchase it by sending Hire's two bottle caps and 50 cents to cover shipping costs. Needless to say, this is one of her rarest releases... Luckily our friends in Japan have somehow secured the rights to distribute it! (with the ever-groovy OBI strip and inner booklet in Japanese) The recording does have a couple of mastering flaws as it is in mono and lifted directly from a mint-minus vinyl copy of the original. However, these little shortcomings are soon overlooked as you enjoy Blossom's ever-fabulous rendition of 12 standards. My particular favorite is 'I wanna be around'. Grab this CD now while it is still around!!"

"Blossom Dearie recorded this material back in the 1950's for Hires Root Beer, believe it or not. She is in very fine voice and does a great job on the following standards: 1)Days of Wine and Roses; 2) I Left My Heart in San Francisco; 3) I Wanna Be Around; 4) The Sweetest Sounds; 5) The Good Life; 6)Lazy, Crazy, Hazy Days of Summer; 7) Desafinade; 8)Our Day Will Come; 9)Fly Me to the Moon; 10)I've God Your Number; 11)What Kind of Fool Am I; 12)He Loves Me. There's a lot to like in this CD. It is essential for any Blossom Dearie fan."

"My brother got me hooked on Blossom Dearie and this CD includes some of her best stuff. Her rendition of Fly Me to the Moon (a Sinatra classic) is absolutely beautiful. I was very disappointed when it wasn't included in Verve's collection. The Days of Wine and Roses isn't in its standard swing version; instead she gives it a smooth bossa rhythm. Very typical of Blossom to give her own twist to the standards! Her pure sweet voice will keep you listening to the CD over and over!"
