Bing Never Disappoints!

""Seasons" was the very last album Bing Crosby ever recorded. Tracks 1 thru 17 were recorded just one month before his sudden death. Tracks 18 thru 25 were recorded a mere THREE DAYS before the great man's passing! My gosh, how that man could sing right up until the very end! He never lost any of his talented baritone voice. Not every singer can say that.
Bing sang some of my favorite songs on his last album: Autumn in New York, September Song, Yesterday When I Was Young, and my personal favorite, Summer Wind. He did a very fine job on all four, as well as the rest of the songs, all beloved standards
Five poems are included in this CD. They are: Around The Corner, which I found particularly touching; If; The Singers; Lucy Gray; and The Slaves Dream. I had never heard Bing recite poetry before so this was a nice surprise for me. These poems were recorded for distribution to his various fan clubs around the world, but for whatever reason never were. So they are presented in this collection for the first time ever!
I find it particularly moving that the last song Bing ever sang was "Once In A While". The lyrics "I know that I'll be contented with yesterday's memories, knowing you'll think of me once in a while" just kind of break my heart. Bing was my Dad's favorite singer. He idolized the man! So for me, Bing and Daddy are deeply connected in my heart. I cannot think of one without the other!
All in all, I cannot recommend this beautiful album enough. It is perfection. Once again, the magnificent Bing Crosby doesn't disappoint! Also, once again, Ken Barnes has done a fantastic production job. In fact, I've come to learn that if Ken Barnes' name is on it, it's gonna be GOOD!

"This being the last recording session of Bing Crosby, it really is special. A brilliant CD, worth a place in anybody's collection."

"I've been waiting for these recordings to be released on CD for a LONG time. I have most of them on vinyl and they are just about worn out. Bing's voice was still so resonant and easy to listen to even this late in his life, and surprisingly strong on the handful of songs recorded just days before he died. This collection is a treasure, and I want to thank Collector's Choice Music for putting this CD together!"
A great final album by one of the 20th century's best. And

"Unless I am mistaken, this is the first time that Seasons has been on CD. Or, if it was in this format before it quickly sold out and was out of print for a long time. In any case its an excellent final work by the great Bing Crosby. There is something enchanting, deep, and moving about Bing's voice. He is not Frank Sinatra, not better not less. He's a whole different animal. Bing was more of a crooner. That's where his roots are. But over time I think his artistry deepened. He sounds so great on this final album, and at such an advanced age that I think he could have done 10 more albums if he had lived. The bonus material on this album was not all that necessary, but some of it is interesting. I am just so happy to finally have this disk."
