CD Reviews

Mr. Entertainment in Person
Dr. Robert Hackler | Orlando, Fl. USA | 11/02/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"A long-time fan of Bing Crosby, I think that this may be the finest collection of his early records and the foundation for jazz/popular vocalists becoming so popular in the Big Band era. Bing scat-sings, whistles, and uses his voice as an improvisational instrument, showing why he was "Mr. Entertainment". Often, he is compared to Russ Columbo, who died prematurely, but clearly these records display his relaxed and innovative style that sets the trend but goes beyond the crowners of his era. He utilizes his jazz background with Paul Whiteman and his interpretive phrasing for these excellent recordings of the masters."
