A poor version of some of Anita's best

""The Breakfast Show" demonstrates that Anita O'Day, like many musicians, was not always at her best in the morning. It also shows musicians that if you ever plan to market your work, recording should be left to the experts. That said, this is a good addition to the available Anita O'Day material from what was generally an excellent part of her career. It's similar to an earlier Emily recording of her Basin Street West performances, yet has some different tunes. That makes it worth buying. If you're a true O'Day fan, you'll even forgive the producers of this CD for ending it before the final word in "Yesterdays." The word, of course, was "yesterdays." If you're just starting to explore Anita's recordings, buy one of her Verve albums. Norman Granz did it right."
