CD Reviews

Discover the majesty of Andy Williams at his best
Peter Edwards | London United Kingdom | 03/27/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Since you can sample the first few moments of some of the tracks on this album, a review is probably superfluous. 'Warm and Willing' showcases some of the greatest work Andy Williams ever recorded; the sound is immensely rich and enveloping, the vocals as warm as a balmy summer evening and the arrangements as heavenly old-fashioned as all the stars in the night sky. Luxuriate in this album and I defy you to ever want to listen to the tinny teenage trivia that passes for talent nowadays, A master at his masterful best. Why haven't you got it already? Hurry up and order it on one click for goodness' sake!"
Incredibly Beautiful CD

"Andy Williams really shines in this two-for-one CD with beautiful orchestrations and incredible singing. Even "On the Street Where You Live" becomes a romantic ballad with this special artist. This CD will be one of your most played CD's when you get it - just as advertised, this is a very warm and romantic song compilation. The best!"
A fine CD with every song outstanding--BRAVO, ANDY WILLIAMS

"This wonderful "twofer" CD has all the songs from two of Andy Williams' record albums entitled "Warm & Willing" and "Newest Hits." Andy is in excellent form throughout this CD; indeed, every song is exquisite as only he could make it with that amazing voice of his. His sense of timing, his phrasing, and his diction all combine to enhance his singing even more--terrific! The quality of the sound is excellent and I like that the artwork incorporates the artwork from the original record albums.

The CD starts off with Andy singing his heart out on two classic Gershwin tunes, "Embraceable You" and "How Long Has This Been Going On." The arrangements are beautiful and Andy delivers these with great sensitivity. "I See Your Face Before Me" is another incredible tune in Andy's capable hands; and I really like Andy's renditions of songs like "The Way You Look Tonight;" "If Ever I Would Leave You" and "My One and Only Love."

"More Than You Know" is another highlight of the CD; and "Our Love Is Here to Stay" stuns me with its beauty. Andy delivers these to perfection--and beyond! "Warm and Willing" shines bright; and there's yet another gem in "I'll Remember You" which has always been one of my very favorites especially when Andy Williams sings it. "Almost There" is very good as well.

"On the Street Where You Live" again features Andy in his natural element; and that's grand. He's squarely front and center--which is right where he belongs! Andy's "Red Roses for a Blue Lady" impresses me a great deal and I enjoy hearing Andy perform a splendid rendition of "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars." "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars" is elegant.

"The Wonderful World of the Young" is easy on the ear; and listen for "...And Roses and Roses" that has Andy outdoing even himself! "Emily" is also very special and the CD closes nicely with Andy Williams singing "May Each Day;" he never lets go of a single superfluous note and the music fits perfectly with his vocals.

Andy Williams remains a superlative entertainer, one of the best we've ever seen. Catch him in concert if you can! I highly recommend this CD for his fans; and it also makes a fine starter CD for anyone just discovering the magical artistry of the great Andy Williams."
