By May the 5th 1945 and her thirtieth birthday Alice Jeanne Leppart (her real name) was queen of the 20th Century Fox musicals. It wasn't only Alice Faye's snub-nosed blond beauty and husky voice which enthralled cinema lovers in their millions throughout the world, during the depression and World War II, it was the warmth and goodness of her personality. Between 1934 and 1944, she averaged three musicals a year in Hollywood. Twenty three of the songs which she sang in movies made it into America's popular music charts.
