Product DescriptionThis recording spans 50 years of performances of the Alfred Burt Carols. The tradition of writing Christmas carols began as Christmas cards sent to friends and family. Started by Alfred Burt's father, Reverend Bates G. Burt, and concluding with Alfred Burt's final carols in 1954, these works have become American classics. There are many artists that could not be included on this recording, but are available through the wonders of the Internet. We acknowledge the other artists that have brought the carols to millions, including Mannheim Steamroller, Harry Connick Jr., Aaron Neville, Perry Como, Manhattan Transfer, Ellis & Branford Marsalis, Bing Crosby, Jack Jones, and countless choral groups. Alfred Burt's music lives on because of the dedication of his wife, Anne, and family. We celebrate the golden anniversary of these works by presenting this tapestry of musical performances by some of the most gifted artists of our time.-Diane Burt (daughter of Alfred Burt)
