"I love the tone and timbre that Alain Caron evokes from his basses. A funkier version of Jaco, he continues to create beautiful music and completely enjoyable jazz albums.
I own "Play", "Rhythm and Jazz", some Uzeb, and the album he did with Ecay and Lockwood - but I always come back to this cd as my favorite Caron. Check out the inventive line he lays down on "4 & 6", and you'll see why he's regarded as one of the greatest!
Great production always accompanies a Caron album. And his unparalleled bass-playing and imagination create another dimension that makes this type of jazz so much more interesting to listen intently to.
I'm thrilled to have come across this great bass talent. Call Me Awestruck.
I value interesting music that is played and recorded well. This cd's rating was based on:
Music quality = 8.6/10; Performance = 9.4/10; Production = 9.5/10; CD length = 10/10.
Overall score weighted on my proprietary scale = 9.1 ("4-1/2 stars")"

"Nice album, well-produced, but in my opinion not nearly as good as his album "Play". Production quality as usual is excellent, but not as much a winner as Play. If you don't have any of his stuff, I recommend starting with Play first -- a truly awesome album. He's so... professional!"
