"I got this cd ALONG time ago, but I still wanted to write a review for it, because the music is still as powerful as it was when it was first released. I own a few Jarreau cd's and like this cd say's, this collection is some of the best! There are one or two song's I wish were on here, but it doesn't really matter. Song's such as "Roof Garden", "We're in this love together", "So Good" and "Heaven and Earth" stand out as some of the best. Those song's alone make this cd worth getting. I'll sum it up this way, I've had this cd since 1997, and still listen to it today. And unlike some of the new singer's out there, Al Jarreau is the real deal, and an amazing artist, for all generations to enjoy."
Incredible disc for both Jarreau fans and strangers

"I'm a big fan but even I had no idea how good this collection would be. It demonstrates his full range from jazz to smooth sounds to jammin' songs to get down and get funky. My wife had no idea who Al Jarreau was before we met and she has almost worn this disc out. What a talent. Al takes romantic songs to a new level with 'After All' and 'Heaven and Earth'...is so good at bringing a smile to your face with songs like 'Mornin' and 'Roof Garden'....but he is also as cool as it gets on songs like 'Boogie Down' and 'Compared to What'. 'Moonlighting' is one of his best ever. His songs just make you feel good inside. The best part of this CD is that I thought I knew all the sides of Al but was just blown away by the songs I had not heard before. You'll want to keep this one in a specail place in case the house catches fire!!!"
The songs are probably the most well-known, but not the best

"It's difficult to decide what would qualify as "the best" of this multi-talented artist who has been creating fabulous songs and sounds for the past 25 years. While these are probably the most well-known of Al's music, I personally wouldn't say they are the best. A real Al fan can live without this CD because you should already own all of his music, but it would make a great gift for someone not too familier with Al's work to whet their appetite!"

"I HAVE BEEN A BIG FAN OF AL JARREAU FOR SOME TIME NOW AND WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CD, I KNEW THAT IT WAS GOOD, BUT NOT THIS GOOD. AL JARREAU IS SIMPLY AMAZING AND CREATES A SOUND OF MUSIC THAT WILL MAKE YOU FORGET ABOUT EVERYTHING AROUND YOU FOR THE TIME YOUR LISTENING. THIS DISC IS WHAT I DRIVE TO AND RELAX TO AT THE END OF MY WORK DAY. I REALLY WOULD SUGGEST THAT ALL WHO LIKE EASY LISTENING MUSIC AND WANT TO UNWIND SHOULD BUY THIS DISC."
Great Value for your Money!

"You get 75 minutes of finger snapping, scatting music at a great price. What more can you ask for? I still remember hearing Al scat in "Roof Garden" when I was 11, and being blown away by the soul of it all!! Al uses the cream of the crop of session musicians, which make the tracks just sparkle. Just listen to the late, great Jeff Porcaro's shuffle on "Mornin!" As a drummer, I know that mid-tempo shuffle is insanely difficult to play, but Jeff nails it. No wonder it's the best song to listen to while you're driving to work!!! His vocal take on "Take Five" is pure bliss. Al has at times been lumped in with the bland, smooth jazz vocalists that dominate AC radio today, but this collection should let everyone know he is an ARTIST, not some melismatic, wannabe soul man. Scat to that, naysayers!!!"
