This is an astonishing collection of works - or parts of works - by Mozart that covers almost every aspect of his creative output: symphonic, religious music, concerti (for piano, horn, violin, clarinet, flute), chamber music, serenades (for strings; winds), a couple of opera overtures and more. Those who know and love Mozart's music will not need this, but it's a great introduction, a great overview. The selections are well-chosen and interestingly organized, with familiar pieces splrinkled among some not-so well known. A good primer. --Robert Levine

Stunning...Tranquil...Amazing

"The music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the world's most acclaimed and brilliant composers, is undeniably essential in anyone's library of classical music. "25 Mozart Favorites" is a wonderful collection to start with. Not only does it include the basic necessities, but the choice and flow of the movements is perfect. Another quality of this collection is that it doesn't exploit his music and give buyers the idea that if you play it over your baby's crib at night, it will turn your child into a genius.
Two of the many highpoints: "The Marriage of Figaro" and "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" (or, "A Little Night Music").
The music of Mozart is stunning, tranquil, and amazing, a world of its own."
Amazing Collection At An Amazing Price

"I am normally not a fan of classical "greatest hits" type albums, but I make a deserved exception for this CD. This CD is an excellent introduction to all the different styles Mozart is famous for; it has slightly over 75 minutes of music contained in its 25 tracks. The selections were largely well chosen, although to be nitpicky I would have preferred slightly more representation of his sublime horn concertos. Having said that, I unabashedly recommend this CD to anyone who wants a good overall overview of the works of Mozart. My particular favorites on the CD are "The Marriage of Figaro", "The Magic Flute", Horn Concerto Number 3 in E-flat", and, of course the always beautiful "Symphony Number 40 in G Minor."

The amazing thing about this CD is actually not the music presented, but the unbelievably low asking price for the CD, particularly considering that the recording quality is excellent with little to no background noise detectable, even at fairly high volume. This CD is highly recommended to anyone.
