"In case you've never heard Jackie Trent sing, you've been missing something. Her career started in the 60's as one of England's big-voiced belters. She made more of a reputation when she began to collaborate with composer Tony Hatch on such hits as "Don't Sleep in the Subway" for Petula Clark. Her voice went through mny stylistic changes, from big and brassy, to sensual and sultry. And from just plain tired sounding to what you hear on this CD. For some reason, she's gotten into this cute-sey babydoll voice, which is quite the pity. She could really knock your socks off. Now, I just wonder if there's anything of her old voice left. The songs on this CD are rehashes of all of her past hits. Tony Hatch is accompanying her, and from the sound of things, it seems that most of her backup is done on electronic keyboard. This woman needs a full string section behind her to get her jump-started again. Nevertheless, she's still a great talent. And like I said, if you've never heard her, you're missing something."
