Coronavirus Pandemic - Relaxed Swapping Deadlines

Effective 4/27/2020, SwapaCD is relaxing the mailing deadline (the deadline by which the CD must be marked mailed or the transaction will cancel), in order to allow members to group their outgoing mailings and reduce visits to the Post Office.

IMPORTANT This does not mean you are REQUIRED to mail later -- the relaxed deadline means only that you have more maximum time if you need it, to mail and then come back to your account and mark the book as mailed.

Remember that if you use electronic postage , you do NOT have to mail from inside the PO:

you can mail from a secure collection point such as a blue mailbox or the dropbox outside the PO, or
from your home mailbox if it is secure and your mail delivery person is willing to pick up packages as well as deliver mail (most are OK with it)

Note also that other swapping deadline (= time to accept a request, allotted transit time, need to mark icoming books received as promptly as possible after they are delivered) are NOT AFFECTED.

Here are the changes:

Allotted transit time 26 days within contiguous US
from date marked mailed until 35 days outside contiguous US NO CHANGE
system declares book "lost"

*Remember: if you don't mark the CD mailed before the deadline, the transaction will cancel and the requestor may end up getting the CD from someone else. If the transaction cancels and you did not mail, just REPOST the CD to offer it again. If you mail and forget to mark mailed and the transaction cancels, see My request was canceled but I already mailed the CD! for instructions on what to do to try to get credit.

Change in auto-emails during the pandemic relaxed guidelines:

The system will send an auto-email reminder ("You have a CD to mail") one week after acceptance, and then two MARK MAILED reminders as it normally does, before the deadline to mark the CD mailed.
If you need reminding in order to remember to mail or to mark mailed, be sure that your email address will handle SwapaCD emails properly (= will not block or fail to deliver them), by adding "noreply@SwapaCD.com" and "Team@SwapaCD.com" to your email account's list of accepted senders (also known as an Address Book or Contacts List or Whitelist)
