"You may have listened to the Red Hot and Rio project before, which included modern interprations of Carlos Jobim songs, and varied a lot in quality to my opinion. Well, Zuco 103 succeeds in taking Brazilian music to a new dimension that stands out for energy, inventivity and soul. The combination of Stefan Kruger playing drums in an impressive style, the hooks of keyboard player Stefan Schmid which may remind the soul sound of the 70s when the Rhodes keyboard dominated, and the enthusiasm and spirit of front woman Lilian Vieira, make up for something that can really influence this era musically. The songs on this album were already recorded on the first album Outro Lado but the new interpretations add the extra's that can be heard when this band plays live. Hopefully they will record some live-performances soon, up till then, these will keep your feet off the ground.Especially when you are looking for cross-over music this is one you cannot go without; In fact, the band just won the Heineken cross-over award in the Netherlands, followed by a brilliant performance last December 28th in Amsterdam."
