"I stumbled upon a ZARD CD sometime in 1993 on a trip to Japan & have followed her releases off & on since then. ZARD was a pseudonym for the individual Izumi Sakai who changed her back up musicians frequently. Her music originally caught my attention because the driving but balanced guitars & arrangements reminded me of Belinda Carlisle's original solo work - which I enjoyed in the early 90's. Izumi's voice was very unique for the J-Pop scene. Slightly harder than the typical cute singer. Even if you did not understand Izumi's lyrics - her voice was soul touching without being "cute" or "precious" like so many other female J-Pop artists. I was very sad to hear she mysteriously passed away at a very young age this year. This collection is an excllent tribute to her excellent work."
